To all my friends...

Friendship
None of that Sissy Crap
Are you tired of those sissy "friendship" poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You will see no cutesy little smiley faces on this card- Just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad -- I will help you get drunk and plot revenge against The sorry dude who made you sad.

2. When you are blue -- I will try to dislodge whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile -- I will know you are plotting something that I must be involved in.

4. When you are scared -- I will rag on you about it every chance I get.

5. When you are worried -- I will tell you horrible stories about how much Worse it could be until you quit whining.

6. When you are confused -- I will use little words.

7. When you are sick -- Stay the heck away from me until you are well Again. I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall -- I will point and laugh at your clumsy a$$.

9. This is my oath.... I pledge it to the end. "Why?" you may ask; "because you are my friend".

Centreville

We headed over to Centreville on Tuesday. I had never been so it was quite a surprise on how big it was and also how nice. We had a wonderful time. Sydney went on almost every ride too including the roller coaster. She looked a bit scared but after said she liked it.

Here are some pics.

Green solutions

I've only got a moment but I got this emailed to me and I hope everyone at least tries to do as much of these as possible. I know we could do much better but we try. I can't wait until fall when we get our green bins.

Bob the Builder

We went to the mall yesterday to see Bob the Builder and had a great time.

Sydney also got to play with Millene and Nicholas in the playground where they all had a great time. It's too bad there were so many kids.

It was nice to catch up with Adriana about work as well.

Here are a couple of pics. The photo at the mall was free - it's just to bad it wasn't actually with Bob. Oh well.

Today, Sydney was helping Devin eat. We have to keep an eye on her because we never know what she is going to give him - including chocolate cake the other day. However, today she was actually feeding him his lunch. I think that just makes him love his sister more.

Ice cream truck stuck!

Sydney has a new obsession which is ice cream. Now who could blame her since I have always loved it too. She would eat it all the time if allowed and that truck that used to wake her now is a favorite because it brings ice cream.

However, she now announces since last week that the Ice cream truck is stuck. I'm guessing she remembers seeing this on Dora and so assumes that because the truck is not here, it is stuck. I haven't explained that it is selling ice cream to other people instead since it may be easier down the road to explain why it isn't here. I know, not a good mothering strategy to lie to your child but sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do.

So, a few days ago she added that "Ho Ho" would get it out. Now, she met Santa when she was 9 months old but I'm sure doesn't remember him and for Christmas last year, he really had no impact on her world. However, she found a photo of her and Santa and for awhile has been saying that it is the Little Man and Ho Ho. We've explained that it is actually her and Santa but she insists it's Ho Ho. Why she has decided that Ho Ho will get the ice cream truck out, I have no idea but it sure is cute to hear it. Where do they get such things sometimes?

Back from the Delawana

We had an awesome weekend at the Delawana and I can't say enough nice things about the place.

Sadly we didn't take many pictures. Probably because we were so caught up in doing stuff although we hardly did any of the activities that they had planned. With little kids who need naps and early bed times it is tough. However, to be honest early bedtimes were good for us too because we needed the sleep.

Friday: We were a little late because we had to find my Dad's new place to drop Chelsea off and as we were checking out his lot, Sydney slammed her hand in the door of the truck. Thankfully she was ok, just a nasty looking thumb for a few days. We got up and checked in and quickly headed to dinner because our sitting was at 5:15 and we arrived at 5:25. The food was a buffet and it was very good. Also, the view was amazing as you overlooked the water while eating.

After dinner we unloaded our stuff and headed back to the main building. Sydney and Devin checked out the playground which they both loved. Sydney is still talking about it.

Saturday: Got up and headed for breakfast. As I was feeding Devin, I could hear John across the room say to someone "She's over there". I turn around to see Jeff Cowan who I haven't seen in years. We were room mates while living in Collingwood and working at Blue Mountain. I thought he worked in Huntsville at one of the resorts but it turns out he has been at the Delawana the whole time. Not only that, but he's the General Manager! He had no idea we had won the trip because the reservations staff had handled it. We had a great time catching up whenever we saw him.

After breakfast, we of course did more playground stuff. Eventually, both kids needed a nap, so we headed to the room for them to rest. John toured the resort while I had a rest, doing some reading. In the afternoon, we headed out for a boat cruise which was awesome. It also knocked Devin out for another nap. When we got back, Devin was still napping in the stroller and Sydney and her Dad tried out mini golf. It was cute watching her because she had never done it before and found it really interesting.

We did dinner and then headed to the room for an early night. Everyone was asleep by 9:00.

Sunday: We had breakfast and then I asked about daycare (which was included in the weekend). We were shown where it was and Sydney immediately went for the toys. I had said that we would come back after her nap but she didn't want to leave so we left her there to play until lunch. I picked Sydney up at 12 and got her down for a nap as well as Devin. John watched them while I headed to the spa for a massage. Then after the massage, I ran Sydney to daycare and John headed for a massage. Devin and I went for a walk to see what we hadn't seen of the resort. We picked Sydney up from daycare and had dinner {after Sydney got a butterfly painted on her arm : ) } Another early night for all.

Monday: Got up and started packing before breakfast. We headed for breakfast and then Sydney had another morning of daycare. John and Devin went on a boat cruise and I went back and finished packing and loading the truck. I then went to the spa for a Spa Pedicure which was awesome. After that we packed up and headed home.

Let me just say that if you are looking for a great place to go that everyone will enjoy than this is it. What we saw of the kid's program, it was great. No wonder they are ranked No. 1 for families. I can certainly see why.

We will be saving all our pennies to hopefully go back in a couple of years. Thanks to Jeff and his crew for an awesome time.

Today, the kids are trying to get back on a schedule. Devin is pretty tired and you can tell he is happy to be home. Traveling for him right now is not something he enjoys a lot of. He's ok with a day out but beyond that it is too much for him.

Now for me to get a bunch of things done around here.

Good and bad

It has been a crazy week so far and it's only Thursday. Some great things and not so great things happened.

I guess the first thing that happened was we found out Monday night that we won a trip to the The Delawana Inn. It was their Open the Shutters contest. We can't wait to go. So that was the exciting news.

It was also a great day because I got a pendant I had bought on line with the kid's names on it. It is from Citrus Silver Products.

But then the bad. Sydney fell down our front steps and smacked her face on the brick of the basement window. She's ok but looks like she's been beaten. Each day her left eye gets blacker so it's going to take some time to heal. The picture doesn't do the damage justice but thankfully she will heal and no broken skin for scars. My mom feels really bad because she was watching her but it happened because Sydney wasn't paying attention. Plus this is the first of many injuries over her life I'm sure. Especially since she is such a daredevil.

Another bad: I have no idea what was going on the other night but we had police cars swarmed all around our house. There was a police helicopter flying around in circle, an ambulance and police cars everywhere. They were looking for something or someone according to John's scanner but in the midst of listening to it he got a fire call and took the scanner with him. While the helicopter was looking they spotted a grass fire. So John was gone and not long after so were the police.

I thought everything was fine and then at 10:30 I look out the window and there are more police cars than the last time including two unmarked. I realized that John had left our shed open so I went out to lock it (with our 100lb dog just in case). When I walked out the neighbours dogs barked at me and I heard one of the police say that they heard dogs barking. I was getting a little nervous and I guess I should have gone and spoken to the police but I didn't. I called the firehall thinking John was standing around talking and he told me that they had just gotten back from the fire (he was out for 3 hours) so I asked him if he had heard what was going on. He said no.

When he got home 20 minutes later there were no police cars at all. He thinks though that a child was missing. I sure hope they found him if that was the case.

I know I sound a little bit crazy at getting nervous but we have had some strange things happen around here. A few years ago we had a teenager try to break into our house because another boy was chasing him and was going to kill him. I wouldn't have doubted that this was going to happen because the kid that was after him seemed to be on something when the police got him.

Also, apparently a month ago (thankfully we weren't home) a swat team was called in to deal with something down the street from us. We have no idea what they were doing though.

It's frustrating because we live in a small quiet town and it would be really nice to know more. I appreciate that they are dealing with whatever is going on but please tell us.

Another good: I've been on a huge creative path and even though I don't normally post scrapbooking pages; here is one. If you want to see more check them out here.

Lastly, I've also posted the photo that will be on the Delawana website stating that we won their contest. It's not the best but I fixed Sydney's face.

Beautiful day....finally.

It is 20 degrees outside and the sun is shining. How awesome.

We usually walk to the post office each day when it is nice and yesterday we got a surprise. Actually three surprises.

1. I got the recipe swap cards finally. I can't believe I rushed to get them done before we went to Disney. Oh well, they were certainly worth the wait.

2. Got a pizza box from Elia with another circle journal. There is some awesome
pages in it including a great poppet layout by Patti. I can't wait to add to it.

3. A big box from Lands End. I had ordered some sheets and some sandals from their clearance section. The sheets were for a King and cost $20.00. They are gorgeous and the kind of sheets that should cost over $100. They are 100% cotton and 300 thread count. There are some very very faint white marks in a few spots which really made no difference to me. What a deal!!

Here is a photo of the kids helping me take the boxes home. Devin loved the big box because he could touch and scratch it. It's all about noise and feel right now for him. Sydney of course was happy because she was "helpin".

I had mentioned before about Kim and Brad getting married in Jamaica. I saw a bunch of the awesome pics taken by Linda a few weeks ago and Kim emailed this one to me the other day.

Sweet little man

This is Devin at Jacob's baby shower. Sadly, I don't know the person's name who took these but they are great. Thanks so much Carol (Jacob's grandma) for sending them to me.

Tagged!!

Thanks to Holly, I've been tagged. Here are the rules.

Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog! Sure hope I can come up with 7 people who haven't already been tagged.

1. I was sent to Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital as a baby because I was growing to fast. They decided that I was just very healthy and sent me home after being there a week.

2. I am absolutely terrified of guns and tornadoes although I have never had much experience with either - thankfully.

3. I was sure I didn't want to have kids until I was 30. So glad I changed my mind.

4. My parents were told that I wasn't smart enough to finish highschool let alone go to college. Hmmm good thing the University of Waterloo, University of Guelph and Western University didn't know that because they all accepted me. To bad I didn't finish but after my second year I realized I wanted to be a graphic designer.

5. I hope that one day I will finish my university degree.

6. I've been to Disney World 9 times and hopefully there will be many more trips.

7. That I'm very shy. Of course, once you get to know me I don't shut up.

I can't tag anyone. I think everyone I know has already been chased down. Oh well, I'll be much quicker next time. Thanks Holly for tagging me.

April 7

Ok, so I tried a recipe from the Martha Stewart website. Marshmallow chicks. Now, I must admit that I love a challenge but mine looks nothing like hers. Oh well. Of course, Devin started crying just after I started trying to pipe them out so that didn't help.

However, they are to die for!! I think that from now on I will make marshmallows because they are so easy. It's just water, gelatin and sugar plus a mixer. Who knew!

If anyone wants the recipe just let me know.

We aren't really doing anything for Easter other than going to church. I'm thinking we will start doing stuff next year. So I may have a chance to make the chicks better next year.

There isn't much happening here. Devin and I attended a baby shower for little Jacob. He is Carol and Bruce Rose's grandson and he is adorable of course.

Other than that, it's been pretty quiet which is nice. I've been busy working on some stuff for my portfolio including some blog banners. All of that has been posted on my other blog http://adesign.typepad.com/

Now, if it would just stop snowing that would be nice. We've had at least 5 inches of snow in the last two days. MAKE IT STOP!!

April 3

John is back to work and we are trying to get into a routine without him.

Sydney is either getting sick or is just developing her personality. She is driving me crazy right now. She refuses to listen to me and then defies me. For instance, throwing food on the floor. I guess this is the start of many years to come.

I'm getting over a cold. Because of this, Devin has been sleeping with us which probably isn't a good idea but at this point I really need sleep.

I can't wait for the weather to be better so we can all get outside everyday. We obviously need to spend more time outside.

Happy Easter everyone.

March 28 - I think spring is really here!

Yesterday was a beautiful and sunny day. It was nice enough that you didn't need a jacket most of the time. Or maybe we were fooling ourselves into thinking we didn't.

We went to the new Walmart in Stouffville which is apparently the largest in Canada right now. Not a big deal really - just a Walmart with a grocery store. Of course, it will never replace the Superstore for me because I love PC stuff far too much.

We then went to Newmarket so I could get some pictures printed off at Costco - including three digital scrapbooking pages. It's so cool to see them printed off.

Not much happening today but tomorrow we may go to the One of a kind show in Toronto - can't wait because I've never been.

A big congrats to Kim and Brad for finally tying the knot in Jamaica. Now we just have to wait for news on when the kids are coming!!! I know Kim is saying it's never going to happen but I'm sure it will. Trust me Kim even though I'm not getting much sleep right now I wouldn't change being a Mom for the world.

March 22 - a rainy but warm day

I thought I needed a banner and this photo sums up my life. Thanks for coming to visit. I love to read everyone's comments.

Daddy the LieLie's! (butterflies)

We went to the Butterfly Conservatory last week. I finally got around to posting.

We also went on the big Ferris Wheel and since this was my first ride on one I was excited. However, it was a little to high for me. I appreciate that the guy running it thought it would be great to stop it so we could see more but he didn't have to. Plus the extra trip around was very kind but again not needed!! Hard to believe that I ski with this fear of heights.

Lots of things happening lately!!

There has been lots of stuff happening to many our of friends lives and although we don't get much a chance to catch up with them all it is very exciting to hear about what is going on.

Congratulations to Jodi and Ryan Swanzye on the birth of their daughter Kendra. We can't wait to see pics and meet her. I can't believe Ryan is a dad - I still think of him as this little kid. Ok, I realize he isn't very little these days but still.

Also, congratulations to Sharon Gummer and Al on the birth of their son Memphis Gabriel Fox Palmer Gummer. That is one big name for a little guy! We can't wait to meet his as well.

Can't wait to hear the details and see the pics from Kim and Brad's wedding. Their getting married on March Break in Jamaica. We wish we were going but will wait anxiously for the many stories.

We saw Dan Lim on a tv show on CBC. The name of the show escapes me right now but Dan was awesome as usual. Sydney remembered being at his studio and pointed at him when he was on the screen.

I'm sure there's more stuff going on so just let us know.

My baby girl is 2

Where has the time gone? I can't believe that Sydney is 2 today. Of course, I'm sure I'll say that every year.

We gave her a Fisher Price garage which she seems to love. She also got some Crocs last month which she wore in Disney.

I made her a Lightening McQueen cake which she loved and had a great time destroying it after we took pictures. She loves the icing but not the cake and man has she had a lot of icing. I'm not sure why she won't eat the cake because she loves it before it's cooked.

Need sleep

Our little man still isn't sleeping through the night and obviously it makes everyone here very grumpy. He has started eating solid food and that may be helping him sleep a little better but he needs to sleep all night. Actually, I would be glad if he slept for 4 hours at a time right now.

Sydney is going to be 2 on Sunday. I can't believe (like everyone says) how quickly time flies. She can be such a sweet little girl and can also tear apart a house in minutes. Plus, she has quite the temper - thankfully it's shortlived.

She got out yesterday with John to shovel some snow with John. I've shown some pics above because to be honest I couldn't get them below this text.
